- Daddy Moon died in California at a football game . He was a big UT fan and flew to a lot of their away games. His brother Paul had been a football coach (not at UT). Fortunately Daddy Moon was with his brother at the game, because it turned out he had left all his ID at his hotel.

This newspaper article (a tribute more than an obituary) was found in the papers of Miriam Moon Wittig, daughter of Evan Ross Moon:
RITES HELD FOR EVAN R. MOON, TEXAS - SIZE MERCHANDISE MAN
SAN ANTONIO. -- Funeral services were held her Wednesday for Evan R. Moon, 75, one of the country's greatest appliance merchandisers.
Mr. Moon died in Los Angeles Saturday at the USC-University of Texas football game. An avid sports enthusiast, he followed the Texas team wherever it played.
Until he retired in 1957, Mr. Moon was appliance manager for Joske's of Texas here. He joined Joske's in 1937 after serving as Dallas Division manager for Frigidaire. Previously, he had sold Frigidaire products in Memphis and Alabama.
According to associates who worked with him at Joske's, Mr. Moon set sales records that few if any department stores have ever equaled. In one six-month period, he sold more than 1,000 Frigidaire refrigerators alone per month.
His greatest sale, he once told a friend, was to sell James Calvert, then president of Joske's, on the idea that department stores appliances should be merchandised as a strong independent store within the larger store.
At its peak, Joske's appliance sales force number around 70, most of whom were outside salesmen. Mr. Moon reasoned that for every customer who came in the store there were 10 outside waiting to be sold.
"He rang doorbells right along with his men," an associate said. "He had a tremendous ability to inspire men to work. He wanted himself, his team and his store to be number one."
He was described as a hardworking, hard driving dedicated man with a terrific imagination and creative ability in merchandising appliances. His methods and successes were the subject of many articles in national publications, including Fortune and Time.
Mr. Moon is survived by his widow and two daughters, a brother and five sisters.
Daddy Moon married a woman named Pearl after Mommy Moon died. He remarried fairly soon after Mommy Moon's death to a woman he met on a cruise. Pearl returned home somewhere in the North after Daddy Moon passed away
