- Albert Funk attended the Mennonite Seminary at Wadsworth, Ohio. He was ordained at the First Mennonite Church of Philadelphia in 1874. Albert spent time in the Indian Territory as a missionary among the Cheyenne and Arapahoe Indians. He spent a year as minister of the Germantown Mennonite Church. In 1885 he moved to New York and entered the work of the Gospel Tabernacle. In 1886 in addition to his other duties he was appointed secretary of the New York Missionary Training College were he also taught.
