Notes |
- Jonathan Weaver was killed by renegade Creek Indians in February of 1818. His son Moses was with him at the time and there is recorded testimony concerning the incident in records of Indian Depravation in Atlanta. The Indians not only killed Jonathan, they also killed his horse, then took his "greatcoat" and saddle. This occurred at the mouth of Roaring Creek (also called Roaring Branch) approximately five miles south of Ft. Gaines. At that time Ft. Gaines was a part of Early County. It is now a part of Clay County.
