DEATH CALLS RILEY GREEN---A PIONEER
Grim death, relentless and irresistable, has again passed this way taking in its toll the venerable Riley Green who is now sleeping the last sleep in the Vernal cemetery.
Last Friday Mr. Green suffered a paralyzing stroke and on Wednesday he died. The funeral was held Thursday in the Vernal First ward house conducted by Bishop H.B. Calder. Appropriate remarks were made by President Don R. Calder, John N. Davis and Bishop Calder. Music was furnished by the First Ward double quartet, in charge of Radley Barket.
Deceased was 76 years old and was the father of fifteen children, seven of whom are living in the valley. They include Mrs. Joseph Burton, Mrs John Evans, Mrs Michael Flynn. One sister, Mrs Wm. Green and one brother, Ephraim Green who resides at the mouthof Ashley canyon. The wife died about four years ago.
Mr Green was a pioneer in this valley having come here from Kamas in the early 80's. He was a farmer and orchardist and the Riley Green peach orchard has supplied many wants."
