- He served during the Revolutionary War as a private in the 4th Regiment of the Albany County Militia under Kilian Van Rensselaer. Cary served with sons William and Benoni during the War of 1812. He married secondly following Dorcas Moon’s death a Mrs. Ruth (Baltron) Williams, a widow (died 1845). Cary and his brother Thomas migrated from Rhode Island prior to 1790 and settled in Swanton, Vermont on an island in Lake Champain. He later moved by 1820, to Crooked Lake, Genesee County, now Yates County, NYwhere his father Cary Clark, Sr. previously resided. Wickizar: Thereafter, he visited his brother Arvin in Fluvanna, Chautauqua Co, NY and was impressed enough with the area that he purchased some timber acreage in Ellicott, Chautauqua Co, NY from the Holland Land Company. By 1822, he brought his family from Yates County to Ellicott, NY. Cary is always described as a physically strong and large man, retaining his strength and full mental capacities to his last days. Cary Clark died at home on December10, 1857, in Ellicott, Chautauqua County, NY. (Sources: A.A.
