- Moved to Marshall Co, IL in 1844. Served as postmaster of Steuben
from 1851 until it was abolished at his suggestion in 1865, as he
declined to hold the unprofitable office longer. He owns 260 acres of
land, having sold 160 some time ago, which made his farm, previous to
the sale, 420 acres. His property is in a prosperous state of
cultivation, with good improvements. He is one of the oldest settlers
of the county, respected by all his acquaintance, and is kind,
generous and hospitable. (Steuben)
Bio Record of Livingston Co, 1900: a carpenter, also engaged in
manufacture of lumber for quarter of century. In 1844 came to IL with
team in 22 days, located in Marshall Co. Bought 160 acres. Then, 200
more. Engaged in lumbar manufacture in Peoria Co for 6 years after
which returned to farm in Marshall Co., but spent last years with
daughter in Weston.
Listed 1850 Fed Census of Marshall Co, IL as farmer, 500 acres.
