DEATH of JACOB F. SHOWALTER -- On Friday of last week, our well knowna nd highly respecte d citizen, Jacob f. Showalter, met with an accidentth at resulted in death. A carpenter by t rade, he was engaged inweatherboa rding the residence of John Davis, North Main and Dayton streets, North W ard, While working on a ladder, about four o'clock thatafternoon he fe ll to th e ground, a distance of ten or twelve feet,striking his head, ca using a fracture of the skul l. He was taken tohis home on Church street, remained conscious until eight o'clockSaturda y morning, when becomi ng insensible, he lingered until eleveno'clock that night and then d ie d. Deceased was one of our modelcitizens and leaves a wife and one ch ild to mourn their gre at loss.

Whereas, The Central Luthern Church desires to express her sense of the sad and sudden deat h of brother Jacob Showalter, one of the founders of the Church, in a fitting testimonial t o his memory, we the Church Council of said church, do unanimously adopt the following: RESO LVED, th atin the death of Jacob Showalter the community has lost a good, industrious and usf ul citizen; the family a kind husband and father; the relatives an excelent and worthy membe r of an old and honored family, and thech urch an upright, pure, modest and unostentatious me mber, who neverbroug ht reproach upon the church and remained in faithful communion withit u n til the hour of his death. He was associated with the council asa trust ee and discharged w ith fidelity its duties.
