    Notes
    • After spending some time working on the family farm he went to school and became a teacher for many years. He was a prime mover in the Delaware River and Lancaster Railroad project and was a director and took an active part in that company until his health failed, and in consequence of which he resigned.
He also worked up to a considerable extent the genealogical record of the Cassel family until his health failed, and not being able any more to write, he handed all the papers and manuscripts over to his brother Daniel K. Cassel, at Germantown, Piladelphia, with the request that it be finished and printed.
