The Paulus farm was the favorite place of my childhood. It was EdwinHenry II who paid the last $8500 on the mortgage. Electricity first cameto the farm in 1945, after I was born. I have a Concord grapevine fromthe farm. It grew well in Egg Harbor City and grows better in Ocean City.My great grandfather had cows and my grandfather delivered the milk.That's how he met my grandmother. The horse knew the route and stopped ateach house without direction. She helped him with the dairy until 1929.The two big factors in quitting the milk business were the crash, whenpeople stopped paying for the milk, and the arduous task of sterilizingthe milk bottles. Edwin and Esther Paulus were the finest people I'veever met, bar none. (RAJ, 3 November 2000)
